About This Necklace

Lapis was ground into ultramarine, the pigment Renaissance painters reserved for the single most important figure on a canvas — it cost more than the gold leaf beside it. The gold flecks running through these beads are natural pyrite, formed within the stone. Hand-strung with warm gold-tone beads and finished with a prong-set focal stone.

Depth of blue and the amount of pyrite and white calcite vary genuinely between beads — uniform, fleck-free “lapis” is usually dyed jasper. Colour will differ from the photograph. Beads are individually hand-strung.

Care Instructions

• The beads and findings are brass, which can darken over time. Keep it dry.
• Lapis is relatively soft and porous — remove before showering, swimming, perfume and hand cream.
• Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
• Store flat in the pouch provided, away from harder stones that may scratch it.
• Cleanse the stones in moonlight or on selenite rather than in water.
